A New Year In Abu Dhabi

Well it looks like I’ll be celebrating this New Year in Abu Dhabi.

A few weeks ago Neil asked if I would go with “Chris Poole and the Shades” for a gig abroad this new years. I met this Soul group a few years ago when Neil asked my to a very unique gig. They needed me to play for the bands promo DVD and it turned out to be a really fun evening. From then I’ve become the groups regular trumpet player (although they often go out as a smaller group with only a sax rather than the standard triple brass line up.

It should be a great experience if it all goes ahead. They’re a good bunch of lads and an accomplished group. Here a few pictures of the hotel we’ll apparently be staying at for the week. I’m a little worried because it looks far to good to be true. 

If the it all goes ahead I’ll make sure that I take my video camera to document the trip. Something tells me it’s going to be an entertaining one.
